Job Description

Employee Relations Specialist assists with daily oversight of service delivery in compliance with the policies of the contracting agency, the collective bargaining agreement, and in conformance with company procedures. This position provides a broad range of professional employee relations activities including employee counseling and discipline, training, conflict resolution, complaint investigation, and policy interpretation. ER Specialists interact with all levels of leadership regarding legal compliance, discipline, terminations, and grievances.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between the client and MV employees
  • Recognized subject matter expert regarding labor and employee relations
  • Manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources
  • Enforces safety, performance, and other company policies
  • Issue and track discipline in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement
  • Advise management on contracts and employee grievances
  • Lead meetings between management and labor and meet with union representatives
  • Draft proposals and rules or regulations
  • Ensure that human resources policies are consistent with union agreements
  • Work with HR manager to develop and implement employee engagement activities
  • Provide trend analysis regarding employee turnover and recommendations for improvement

Talent Requirements:

  • Degree in Human Resources or Labor Relations preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment law
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to engage in labor relations and negotiations
  • Functional knowledge of Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and EEO laws and regulations
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
