About the Opportunity: Our Barrie Transit team is looking to hire a Full-Time Facility Maintenance Technician. MVT proudly operates the Barrie Transit conventional and specialized transit service for the City of Barrie from a brand new $22M state-of-the-art facility as part of a 20-year operating contract. Facility Maintenance Technicians are responsible for ensuring that all transit service stops are kept in a clean, orderly, well maintained and safe condition.

About You: To become a Facility Maintenance Technician, you must:

  • Be over the age of 19 and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Possess a valid "G" Ontario Driver's License
  • Have a minimum of 2 year's driving experience and an acceptable Driving Record
  • Be able to pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Have a good knowledge of the transit service area, Highway Traffic Act and defensive driving techniques
  • Be flexible to work a number of shifts including days, weekends, holidays and evenings

Successful applicants receive full paid training; however work experience in any of the following areas is desirable:

  • Experience operating of a variety of cleaning, snow removal, maintenance equipment
  • Experience working with cleaning products, chemicals and equipment
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems
  • Knowledge of the transit service area including transit stops
  • Customer service experience, or experience working with the general public
  • Current First Aid Certification
