Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking Fleet Level AA Technicians for our El Paso division. The Technician will perform routine maintenance and repairs on all fleet vehicles and shop equipment and facility. The Technician is required to perform all other duties as required and needed to operate the maintenance department within reason to their scope of ability or as directed by the Maintenance Manager, General Manager and MV Support Staff. Experience working with Ford and Chevy vehicles preferred. Experience with CNG fuel systems helpful. Duties include:

  • Must have a current Commercial Driver's license.
  • Must have technical competence with heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Texas CNG certificate required within 90 days of employment (based on Testing availability).
  • This position is considered safety sensitive and subject experience with transit bus maintenance required.
  • To perform electrical diagnosis and repairs.
  • To perform remove and replace procedures on tires and wheels.
  • Perform and troubleshoot engine component remove and replace procedure, such as alternators, power steering pumps, fuel pumps, fan clutch, etc.
  • Perform diagnosis, service and repairs on transmissions, differentials, driveshaft and universal joints.
  • Perform fluid and filter changes on Engine, Transmission, Differential, Heating and Cooling system, etc.
  • Write repair orders legibly with detailed repair information.
  • Use maintenance program software to charge out parts and track labor.
  • Perform vehicle computer diagnostics, using computer scanners and digital volt ohm meters.
  • Perform major engine components diagnosis and replacement, i.e. cylinder head, exhaust manifold, intake manifold, cam shafts etc.
  • Follow policy and procedures implemented by MV Transportation and contractor.

Job Requirements

  • Ford and or Chevy experience a must.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to perform with minimal to no supervision.
  • This position is considered safety sensitive.
  • The Technician must have at least two ASE certification. (if less than two, will be required to obtain another ASE certification within the first six (6) months of employment).
  • Proven consecutive years of hands on shop experience.
  • Must have own tools for this class of Technician.
  • Able to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule; days, evenings and/or weekends available.


Listening skills are a must. Must listen closely to Maintenance Manager and /or Shop Foreman for instructions to perform remove and replace procedures correctly.

  • Repair vehicles using the proper tools and accepted trade methods.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Work well with others.
  • Follow instructions printed in Factory shop repair manual.
