Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager who is responsible for the on-going development, implementation and oversight of the Maintenance Program. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the systems maintenance and repair activities including vehicles, buildings, fuel systems, on-board vehicle equipment including tablets, and other physical assets. The Maintenance Manager reports to the General Manager, supervises all maintenance division staff, and works cooperatively with the Operations Manager.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Establish applicable policies and procedures at the maintenance division
  • Ensure maintenance and operational personnel have resources needed to resolve problems that occur
  • Ensure division in compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental laws
  • Ensures an effective process is in place at division which have vehicles that are under warranty for recovery of all parts and labor
  • Ensure compliance with the system's Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs and safety inspection schedules
  • Develop periodic or seasonal maintenance campaigns as needed
  • Maintain and secure appropriate levels of parts and fluids inventory
  • Coordinate maintenance subcontracts including towing and outside repairs
  • Keep accurate and comprehensive records pertaining to the maintenance function and analyze such record to improve maintenance services
  • Supervise the vehicle cleaning program to ensure a clean and well maintained fleet at all times
  • Responsible for security and maintenance of the operations facilities including vehicles, tools, equipment, buildings, fuel, parts, and all other system assets.
  • Provide oversight of janitorial and landscaping activities
  • Recruit, select, train, evaluate and supervise all shop personnel in coordination with the Human Resources Manager
  • Manage the shop safety program in coordination with the Safety and Training Manager to ensure safe work methods are known and followed with the aim of preventing injuries or damage to property
  • Coordinate with vehicle manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and other maintenance professional to increase knowledge and to run an effective fleet maintenance shop
  • Attend or arrange seminars and training activities as needed
  • Shall be on duty (or have a delegate on duty) during all maintenance hours of operation and shall meet with the client as required
  • Ensure that all reporting is completed on-time and accurately and access to all records is made available at all times

Talent Requirements:

  • Five (5) years' experience as a Maintenance Manager supervising fleet and eight (8) years' experience of general vehicle maintenance and repair experience
  • Must be ASCE certified
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical maintenance and repair methods and practices
  • Ability to adapt and problem solve in a complex fast paced environment
  • Experience effectively managing resources to achieve goals and outcomes
  • Proficient with the Fleet Management Software chosen by the contractor and approved by the client
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders of all levels
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel and PowerPoint in particular) required, and experience using project management software such as Microsoft Project is a plus
