Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Lead Mechanic to manage and actively conduct all maintenance aspects of the Division. Maintenance operation to include but are not limited to preventative maintenance and repair of down vehicles. As the Lead Mechanic you will supervise all maintenance and utility staff. The position will assure that all contractual maintenance requirements are achieved and be responsible for training and development of the maintenance staff. The Lead Mechanic will work with the Fleet Manager in the running of the day-to-day business, which includes daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting responsibilities along with the management of the maintenance program budget. This position also requires you to have experience with air conditioning systems, transmissions, electrical diagnosis, emission control systems, and wheelchair lifts as you will be fixing vehicles 90% of your time!

Talent Requirements:

  • Must have technical competence with heavy diesel vehicle repair and preventive maintenance. (ASE certified in truck or school bus preferred)
  • Aptitude to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in written and oral formats.
  • Ability to properly prioritize, implement and manage work schedules, projects and assignments within the maintenance department
  • Must display initiative, professionalism, candor and tact at all times Computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in tracking and controlling parts inventories, vendors and suppliers.
  • Manage the financial / accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation.

Additional Requirements:

This position is considered safety-sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing, under Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations.

MV Transportation has been closely following the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for personal protection equipment (PPE), which now includes gloves and hand sanitizer in our divisions. Our Procurement team was able to secure an order for more than a half-million masks and other personal protection equipment, which have been sent to our divisions.
