Our Go Bus team is looking to hire Full-Time Para-Transit Drivers ($17.60-21.20/hr). Drivers are responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation and exceptional customer service.

The following is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the essential functions of the Para-Transit Vehicle Operator position but rather a general description of some of the requirements necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Para-Transit Vehicle Operator must be able to perform the following tasks, among others:

  • Conducts pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure proper operating condition of vehicle and on-board equipment
  • Prepares daily vehicle inspection reports detailing pre and post trip inspection results
  • Communicates vehicle defects both minor and major immediately to dispatch and/or maintenance personnel
  • Successfully performs scheduled manifest by picking up all clients on time and delivering them to their destinations safely and within a reasonable time frame
  • Ensures the safety of all passengers by use of appropriate on-board securements
  • Ensures safe and clean vehicle condition at the start and end of each shift
  • Communicates effectively with dispatch or central office personnel via two way radio, mobile data computer or other company provided technology
  • Adjusts to variables in normal working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic and construction, passenger problems, vehicle accidents and trip changes
  • Provides excellent customer service including assistance from door-to-door in boarding and deboarding, supplying information, and responding appropriately in the event of emergency
  • Employs all defensive driving techniques and safety policies to eliminate preventable and non-preventable accidents and passenger injuries
  • Reports all vehicle and passenger incidents immediately to dispatch and follow incident reporting procedures
  • Protects passengers and secures vehicle in the event of accident or injury and communicate effectively with dispatch and operations staff as directed by the accident and incident policy
  • Maintains a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or other employees
  • Diffuses difficult situations and maintains order onboard vehicle
  • Documents thoroughly the course of the day including odometer readings, times, and passenger information using mobile data computer or manifest depending on circumstance
  • Accurately collects and reconcile fares collected from customers
  • Maintains professional demeanor and appearance
  • Demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality in compliance with the company attendance policy
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions: The Para-Transit Vehicle Operator works in a cutaway or other type vehicle on the road providing transportation and requires the following physical activities:

Long periods of sitting, assisting passengers on and off vehicles, kneeling, bending, reaching overhead, loading and unloading passengers and bags, securing wheelchairs, pushing, pulling and the ability to lift 50 pounds.


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Unrestricted Class 4 (or higher) Driver's License permitting the transportation of up to 24 passengers
  • An acceptable Driving Record
  • Be able to pass a Criminal Background Check and provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
  • Previous professional driving experience preferred but not required
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities and/or senior citizen groups preferred but not required
  • Customer service experience, or experience working with the general public
  • Have a good knowledge of the transit service area, Highway Traffic Act and defensive driving techniques
  • Be flexible to work a number of shifts including days, weekends, holidays and evenings
