Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a Pricing Director, as a senior management role with the critical responsibility of advancing the Company’s profitable growth working closely with the executive and Operational team. This position involves frequent and consistent interaction with the Company’s field Operations, Business Development and Finance management leaders. The Pricing Director will be expected to provide confident conclusions regarding pricing and network actions and decision making and to convey these conclusions in a professional and positive manner. This role will be an integral part of the Company’s management team and strategic direction objectives. It is expected that the Pricing Director will embrace teamwork, accountability and good management skills to motivate and improve the Company’s pricing functions while also maintaining a high-level strategic view consistent with Company objectives and competitive trends.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Senior level leadership and management of the Company’s customer and network pricing function working closely with Ops and Sales/Business Development management as well as finance team in developing overall strategy for pricing decisions, sales priorities and profitable business actions.
  • Effective communication skills with field sales account executives while creating and sustaining positive, instructive and trustful relationship experience.
  • Leadership and management of departmental pricing analysts and network support personnel to include delegation of detailed analysis and follow up.
  • Develop and enhance pricing analysis to provide recommendations for responsible pricing level decision making.
  • Coordinate, manage and lead customer pricing review with proactive solutions and recommendations.
  • Organize and maintain timely and accurate review of bid packages as well as professional correspondence with customers on RFPs, quotes and presentations.
  • Execute proper controls over pricing activities ensuring that the Company’s best interest in profitable business transactions is met.
  • He or she will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties requested by his or her supervisor.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • The role is responsible for pricing standards/parameters for each of the revenue streams for a $750M global transportation Company.
  • Collaborate w/management and marketing teams to develop and implement pricing strategies.
  • Reviewing profit and loss statements for existing business to locate areas of opportunity when an Request for Proposal (RFP) is issued for the business.
  • Work with peers to prepare reports in support of the assumptions used in the proforma 
  • Maintain competitive and aggressive price position within defined guidelines through performance tracking, root-cause definition, financial impact analysis, and defining necessary changes.
  • Collaborate closely with various functions across the organization to achieve Company goals.
  • Coordinate the execution of bid model pricing.
  • Respond to customer (external and internal) requests/issues related to pricing.
  • Travel required: 20%.

Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

  • B.A or B.S. Degree with relevant (operations, business) field of study preferred.
  • Two (2) + years relevant pricing experience preferably in transportation or automotive industry.
  • Two (2) + years managerial or supervisory experience.
  • Two (2) + years pricing/financial management experience preferred.
  • Experience in a pricing role and/or current knowledge of market conditions relative to contract pricing within the transportation industry.
  • Experience developing financial/budget models and the ability to succinctly and clearly communicate recommendations.
  • Analytically driven problem solver with the ability to identify multiple solutions and evaluate all associated risks.
  • Keep informed on industry trends and shifts in the marketplace and our competition, in order to keep pricing strategies innovative and fresh.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office with strong skills in Excel.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with various functional departments to achieve Company goals.
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate team members.
  • Work with creating new bid model(s).
  • Proven ability to identify, initiate and implement business value.
  • Known as a thought leader with effective influencing skills.
  • Positive attitude with an ability to build cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to read through client provided documents and identify cost items.
