Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Project Manager who will provide support, leadership and direction as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on transit operations. He/she will be responsible for effective use of scheduling systems, conducting training for MV employees and as a liaison to the client for technology related issues. This position will be responsible for monitoring operational KPI's, maximizing labor utilization and workforce efficiencies and driving performance excellence.


  • Provides Scheduling assistance to through use of the designated software programs and utilities, currently Trapeze, as determined by Client requirements and Division goals.
  • Communicates extensively with clients to both ensure work is delivered, on -time, per specifications, and to encourage operational improvements in service efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitors implementation and progress of key Business Improvement initiatives.
  • Assists with evaluation, recommendation, development, and implementation of transit related software tools.
  • Assist in the development and teaching of appropriate training materials for use to train personnel in use of selected and deployed labor management techniques and tools.
  • Evaluates staff schedules for reservations and dispatch functions to determine appropriate levels.
  • Ensures compliance with local wage and hour laws related to transit workers in developing work schedules and run cuts, including Wage Order 9 Compliance, Division Collective Bargaining Agreements and Contract requirements.
  • Interface with other corporate support groups/personnel as necessary to assist operating personnel in achieving performance and profitability targets.
  • Performs other duties and activities as assigned.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

  • Prefer Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Operations Management or IT related field. An acceptable combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Talent Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience: Paratransit transportation with a minimum fleet size of 100.
  • Ability to schedule in a complex multi-modal system utilizing Trip Broker.
  • Ability to create an effective dispatch roll out.
  • Ability to create performance reports.
  • Ability to effectively set up templates for customer profiles.
  • Create polygons for proper service area setup.
  • Ability to produce efficient run-cuts.
  • Ability to manage the delivery of services in a very time sensitive environment.
  • Ability to build trust with local staff through integrity, respect, and effective communication and timely delivery of assigned project.
  • Possess strong organizational, presentation, and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and accurately with little direct supervision..
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to anticipate changing requirements and serve as a change agent within the organization.
  • Detail oriented, with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Ability to solve problems in a practical and pragmatic manner.


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, preferably Excel.
  • Knowledge of transit-related software programs including but not limited to: Orbital, Citrix, Cisco phone queue systems and Trapeze Blockbuster is a plus.
  • Knowledge of California Wage Order 9 laws and their impact on Run-Cutting strategies, actual run-cuts, and implementations.
