Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Safety and Risk Data Analyst who will support initiatives between the Safety and Risk Management departments. The Safety and Risk Analytics associate will be responsible for analyzing claims, incidents, telematics and financial data to evaluate appropriate preventative actions. This role is critical in strategically promoting the reduction of incident frequency to result in a reduction of claims cost.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Ability to understand relationships between various data attributes and underlying detail to combine separate data sets together for complete analyses.
  • Extrapolate raw data out of a system and transform into a data-set that is appropriate for predictive modeling and correlation among various data sources. Data normalization may be required.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on the data, and own the accuracy and timeliness of data used in the reporting and modeling.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of appropriate reporting and analysis for KPIs related to risk reduction, incident tracking, and risk management reporting.
  • Automate and establish repeatable workflows, so we can continuously evaluate our safety performance. This includes creation of automated dashboards.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and implement processes that allow us to analyze the profitability of certain decisions and monitor the cost drivers. This includes project management of high profile strategic initiatives, including the implementation of a RMIS system.
  • Ability to synthesize data to summarize key insights and present those findings to senior management.

Talent Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business, Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related quantitative field.
  • Preferred (one) 1+ years experience in analytical roles, supporting decisions and managing data.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders, and collaborate cross-functionally. Can clearly articulate sophisticated financial concepts to a broad spectrum of internal users.
  • Strong analytical reasoning skills.
  • Organized - able to juggle multiple competing projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of detail-orientation.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results.
  • High level of flexibility and adaptability to meet rapidly changing challenges in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient with Windows and related PC applications. Advanced Excel and Access skills.
  • MicroStrategy, Tableau, R, Python, Lawson, Infor, or Risk Management Information Systems a plus.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
