Job Description

MV Transportation's Benefits Analyst reports to the Director of Compensation and Benefits, and the Benefits Analyst is responsible for assisting in the overall design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization's benefits programs. He/she ensures that benefit programs support the organization's strategic objectives and meet all legal requirements. This position provides MV employees with guidance on Benefits policies and processes with the up-most level of professionalism and customer service.

Job Responsibilities

  • Communicates the details of a benefits program to the employees.
  • Holds orientations for new employees to explain benefits.
  • Administers the benefits to employees.
  • Keeps all legal documents up-to-date.
  • Interprets policies and procedures when employees have questions.
  • Ensures all processes are compliant with rules set forth by regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in mergers and acquisitions to ensure benefits are properly integrated.
  • Interviews vendors to select new benefits or make changes in existing ones.
  • Recommends changes in benefits packages to save the company money or make the company more competitive in executive recruitment.
  • Creates information packages to explain changes in benefits to employees.
  • Analyzes and reports benefit plan data to upper management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Talent Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a Human Resources related field and three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Must be an energetic self-starter with advanced Excel skills.
  • Thorough and up-to-date understanding of health plan funding methods, COBRA, ERISA, the Affordable Health Care Act (ACA), and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with executive management and board of directors.
  • Exceptional analytical, statistical, quantitative, and deduction skills.
  • Ability to build relationships, work well across functions, work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to lead and manage large-scale projects.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of business processes and basic corporate finance, management and accounting principles.
  • Demonstrates a strong customer orientation.
