Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Classroom Instructor who will create a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Classroom Instructor must work closely with other staff and the administration of MV Transportation.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the philosophy, vision and mission of MV Transportation Senior Leadership Team.
  • Facilitate the intellectual, personal, and social development of students.
  • Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Maintain all training records, and have them prepared in an "Inspection Ready" status at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the safety and operations team.
  • Work effectively with community organizations and agencies.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  • Instill the importance of the education and training, as a transit operator.
  • Serve as a positive role model for all BTWs trainers and operators.
  • Conduct all classroom training, skills training, as well as observations as outlined in company.
  • Handbook, to include local, state and federal transit guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Equipped with basic understanding of Workers Compensation, DOT Drug and Alcohol
  • Assist Road Supervisors with Accident and Incident Investigation.
  • Must be able to complete the 3rd party CDL testing certification program.
  • Must be familiar with The Smith System Defensive Driving Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the willingness to assume leadership positions.
  • Plan and implement effective lessons, using time, materials and resources effectively.
  • Implement researched-based teaching strategies that engage all students.
  • Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.
  • Display a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual differences.
  • Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
  • Implement frequent assessments of student progress and communicate progress to students and parents.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
  • Establish and maintain a positive climate for learning through appropriate researched-based classroom management strategies.
  • Participate in and implement staff development activities.
  • Coordinate and supervise if necessary all skills and cadet training.
  • Initiate and maintain positive involvement with trainees.
  • Attend and assist when necessary with safety events such as safety blitz's, field observations, all yearly training, quarterly training and monthly training.
  • Work positively toward meeting all safety and training goals.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager, or other Administrative Staff.

Talent Requirements:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Commercial Driver's License Class B w/Passenger & Air Brake Endorsement required.
  • Able to acquire a hold a valid D.O.T medical card.
  • Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
  • Possess great customer service skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
