Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Dispatcher, who lends direction and maintains communication with all operators while monitoring system performance and makes schedule adjustments where necessary to maximize on-time performance, minimize customer wait times for services, and minimize service disruptions as a result of vehicle/operator availability and/or emergency situations.


  • Assign work, vehicles and onboard equipment to operators and maintain check-out logs.
  • Assign stand-by or extra-board operators in the event of operator absences, increased service volumes or in order to minimize service disruptions as a result of traffic, vehicle breakdown, operator problems and/or emergency situations.
  • Review Pre-trip inspections and reassign vehicles as necessary for safety defects and out of service conditions.
  • Maintain attendance log for operators and other appropriate staff.
  • Assign vehicles giving consideration to preventative maintenance schedules and capacity needs.
  • Maintain two-way communication with operators; provide information on customers, cancellations and directional assistance where necessary.
  • Monitor operators and trip status, making adjustments and reassignments as necessary to ensure on time performance.
  • Secure equipment issued to operators at pull-out when drivers check in, and verify manifests or other paperwork is accurate.
  • Handle multiple tasks accurately and effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Communicate with operations and safety regarding scheduling or passenger issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Talent Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Flexible hours are required for this position contingent upon operational needs.
  • Previous data entry, dispatch, customer service, supervisory and/or Trapeze experience desired but not required.
  • Team player and ability to get along well with others.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills with a heavy emphasize on resolving issues and diffusion of potential conflict.
  • Data entry experience and knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft Office package a must, with heavy emphasize on Excel and Word.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English clearly; Excellent communication skills a must.
  • Ability to use multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work productively unsupervised.
