Fleet Bus Mechanic - $1,000 Sign On Bonus in Lorton, VA at MV Transportation

Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Fleet Bus Mechanic who will perform preventive maintenance on various types of buses and vehicles. The position requires the Mechanic to be able to diagnose, inspect, and repair bus components.

Job Responsibilities:

• Diagnoses, examines, and investigates vehicle failures.
• Determines proper course of action to facilitate vehicle repair, maintenance, adjustment, and component replacement.
• Maintains, adjusts, and/or repairs all bus systems, components, and parts including hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, front ends, and air conditioning systems to ensure the operational fitness of coaches.
• Performs major overhauls, major tune-ups, and repair to brakes and steering systems.
• Operates heavy machinery, hydraulic lifts, hoists and jacks, brake lathes.
• Performs daily inspections and repairs on entire fleet.
• Mentors lower skill level technicians.

Skill Requirements:

• Must have experience in automotive or diesel environment.
• Must possess a CDL license with air brakes and a passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
• Must have 609 and 608 air conditioning certifications.
• Must have a minimum of 2 ASEs.
• Must self-certify competency on brake service and repair for both air brakes and hydraulic brakes.
• Work well with others and willing to learn.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
