Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a General Manager who will provide support, leadership and direction to assigned operating location to ensure delivery of annual business plans. He/she will control the daily operation of our transportation contract, in coordination with MV's WAV central control center, and in compliance with company policies and procedures, and the contract under which we provide WAV services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide driver management oversight, monitoring and coaching drivers in areas of attendance, behavior, service delivery and safety.
  • Identify, select, train and mentor location staff as needed.
  • Effectively and frequently communicate with location staff and WAV control center staff.
  • Support fleet coordination efforts, working either with an on-site or remote fleet coordinator, to ensure vehicle maintenance is planned and performed in a manner that ensures fleet availability to meet service requirements.
  • Work with fleet coordinator to correct Issues identified in the DVI process
  • Coordinate with outsourced maintenance, shuttling vehicles as needed to support on time maintenance
  • Receive fleet assets as needed, coordinate with director of maintenance to complete state safety inspections
  • Manage vehicle key security, hold the master key unlock card in the event of any issues
  • Review, adjust, and communicate driver schedules as needed
  • Coordinate either on site or local safety and training resources to ensure training and retraining is administered appropriately
  • Confirm and coordinate initial and annual driver wheelchair certifications
  • Support company safety programs, plans and processes to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide in field response as needed in the event of an incident or accident
  • Serve as a liaison to local client manager
  • Conduct periodic departmental audits.
  • In coordination with the WAV control center, perform daily, weekly and monthly review of key operational metrics.
  • Work with the Director of Accounting who will ensure that all location financial metrics are managed continuously
  • Implement, promote and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Interact with bridges committee to effectuate positive changes to policies, procedures and programs.
  • Participate in location labor and employee relations activities.
  • Provide insight and information to support location(s) contract renewals.
  • Create and present location(s) annual budget.

Talent Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent business management experience.
  • Management experience required.
  • Must have a minimum of (5) five years of comprehensive experience in operations management and a combination of (7) seven years of management or supervisory experience in a transportation environment.
  • Adept in adopting and mastering new technologies
  • Must have a full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT and FTA compliance.
  • MS Office, strong analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and high degree of multi-tasking skills.
  • Additional duties/responsibilities based upon individual contract requirements.
