Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Leave of Absence Program Manager to administer all areas of MV's Leave of Absence process and policies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Responsible for tracking of status of leaves, timely follow up and correspondence with employees and managers and quality customer service for all LOA cases. A key function will be to ensure coordination of efforts between all related parties in LOA process including managers, Benefits team, Workers Compensation team, and Regional HR Managers.


  • Manage all Leave of Absence cases for employees while on approved leaves: FMLA, Workers Compensation, ADA, Personal LOA, etc.
  • Provide positive, responsive and knowledgeable customer service to employees and management.
  • Determine eligibility for FMLA and other types of legally protected leave.
  • Create clear, compliant, and explanatory written communications to employees on leave.
  • Accurately track and follow up on timing issues around leaves of absence, including deadlines for responses from employees, follow-up correspondence due dates, and expected RTW dates.
  • Accurately complete the employer section of short-term disability claim forms.
  • Understand and coordinate state regulations with federal regulations, and multiple types of leave.
  • Coordinate efforts of internal parties involved in LOA process, including payroll, management, and workers' compensation team.
  • Acknowledge, respond to, and resolve HRIS status changes in a timely manner.
  • Accurately file and track all LOA correspondence and records.

Talent Requirements:

  • Requires five (5) + years Leave of Absence experience, with experience in complex LOA issue resolution.
  • Associates or Bachelors degree required.

Required Skill:

  • Excel, Word, MS Office Suite, Access.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and outstanding follow-up skills.
  • Understanding of complicated aspects of accommodations and transitional duty assignments.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws regarding access for people with disabilities and/or religious needs; specifically, FMLA, ADA and Title VII.
