Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking an Operations Manager who will provide support, leadership and direction to assigned operating location to ensure delivery of annual business plans. He/she will control the daily operation of our transportation contract, in compliance with the policies of the contracting agency and in conformance with company procedures. The Operations Manager is primarily responsible for but not limited to:

  • Effectively manage on-time performance and driver availability.
  • Effectively manage road supervision, dispatch and scheduling functions.
  • Effectively manage customer relations through both direct contact and outreach programs.
  • Identify, select, train and mentor location staff.
  • Effectively and frequently communicate with location staff and support team members.
  • Assist in overseeing safety and training programs, plans and processes to ensure compliance with company, contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in overseeing any subcontractors and service providers ensuring compliance with any applicable contractual and performance standards.
  • Contributes to maintain the safety culture of the division.
  • Maintain client contact routinely to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Assist with conducting periodic departmental audits.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly review of key operational metrics.
  • Assist with invoicing and other reporting requirements of the contract and/or Company and Client.
  • Implement, promote and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Participates in location labor and employee relations activities.
  • Will act as the backup to the General Manager and assume the responsibilities of the General Manager during any absences.

Talent Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree a plus.
  • Management experience required.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years or recent (within the last seven years) direct experience in an Operations/Assistant General Manager capacity managing a regularly scheduled fixed route transit services.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience operating 150+ vehicles for fixed route services comprised of 35 ft. to 60 ft. buses.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience mitigating operational issues using a CAD/AVL/Dispatch system.
  • The ideal candidate would have experience in scheduling and personnel management and training.
  • Must be able to work independently and have strong written and verbal skills.
  • Knowledge of the contractual obligations is a must to perform this job correctly.
  • Knowledge of company policy assures that the field operator is using consistent measures to assess a drivers' activity.
  • Trapeze experience required.
  • Experience managing fast paced environment.
  • Additional duties/responsibilities based upon individual contract requirements.
