Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking an Operations/Safety Manager who will be responsible for the daily operation of service. This person will be responsible for the daily operation of service and hold responsibility for daily system performance in all functions of operations, including supervising dispatchers and drivers. The Operations/Safety Manager is primarily responsible for on-time performance and driver availability and contributes to maintain the safety culture of the division. The Operations/Safety Manager reports to the General Manager and primary responsibility is to promote a safe, reliable and efficient operating environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review current and next day manifest for efficiency and operational performance, prepares/reviews daily. Issues attendance and other work rule infractions.
  • Ensures safety regulations are being observed.
  • Conducts accident and injury investigation as required, ensures compliance with all DOT regulations.
  • Monitors operators and staff performance to include spot checking various routes.
  • Assists the General Manger as needed.
  • Assist drivers and others to ensure quality service and fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Responsible for all classroom driver training and ensures that all drivers have met and remain current in all required areas as outlined in company policy and State/Federal law.
  • Documents all training and determines when a driver has successfully met all requirements.
  • Ensures that all drivers remain current in all licensing requirements.
  • Processes all new-hire paperwork to include scheduling physicals, drug screens, criminal record checks and MVR review.
  • They assist in administering the drug and alcohol program to include pre-employment screening, random testing, and testing for cause and maintains an accurate testing log and D and A files.
  • In addition, they complete all retraining in a timely fashion following an accident or unfavorable Road Observation/Check Ride.
  • Assists in preparing and conducting the monthly safety meetings and accurately records all in-service training.
  • Serve as a professional role model for BTW trainers and drivers.

Talent Requirements:

  • One (1) year accident/injury free driving experience.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Possess leadership abilities.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Extended transportation experience.
  • Experience teaching/instructing or public speaking experience.
  • Computer experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory position required.
  • Experience in a Para Transit position and have experience in scheduling and personnel management and training preferred.
  • Knowledge of the contractual obligations is a must to perform this job correctly.
  • Knowledge of company policy assures that the field operator is using consistent measures to assess a driver`s activity.
  • Working knowledge with demonstrated ability to positively affect productivity and on-time performance.
  • Must have a demonstrated proficiency at Trapeze or similar software.
  • Class C w/passenger endorsement.
