Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking Radio Dispatchers. Under direct supervision of the Dispatch Manager the Dispatcher serves as a Driver resource management tool. He/She will assist in the response to service issues such as vehicle road calls/repairs, out of service vehicles, personnel issues, Driver substitutions, and incident/accident response. He/She may perform administrative support functions such as compiling information for monthly service reports and/or performance monitoring of drivers.


  • Communicate information received from management to drivers and communicate information received from drivers to management.
  • Assists drivers and/or bus aides with any questions or problems.
  • Maintain constant monitoring of vehicle status by communicating on the vehicle two-way radio system to assist in resolving in-service difficulties.
  • Ensures drivers pull out of bus yard on-time to make first time point.
  • Review driver manifests prior to submitting to drivers and review of driver manifests returned from drivers to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Applies and explains various program guidelines as they affect client/passenger transportation request(s). This includes basic knowledge of routes and MV policies and procedures.
  • Documents any attendance infractions of Drivers and submits to Operations Manager.
  • Maintains and updates Service Log and Dispatch Log.
  • Driver oversight to ensure the routes are operated according to schedule.
  • Responds to client/passenger concerns and complaints when they are general or brief. Serious or time-consuming complaints must be referred to management.
  • Input appropriate information and maintain accurate information on ride request and canceled rides in the computerized system.
  • Attends necessary training as needed to learn company's computer systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Attends and actively participates in all dispatch training sessions/meetings.
  • Will assist in the operation of the contract through the support of company policy, safety culture, and routing to help ensure efficient and quality service.

Talent Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of streets and locations in specific area is required.
  • Ability to work with and communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively with the general public, both in person and by telephone.
  • Sensitive to the needs of the elderly and people with disabilities.
  • Ability to solicit and record relevant data accurately and precisely.
  • Six (6) months of driver experience highly desirable.
  • Keyboarding skills and knowledge or experience with personnel computers.
