Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Safety Programs Manager to assist with the project management and implementation of programs, processes, and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance and achieve world class safety. The Safety Programs Manager will be responsible for oversight of safety initiatives and execution of programs. The position will be based in Dallas, Texas and report to the VP of Safety.

Job Responsibilities:

Training Programs & Safety Initiatives

  • Reviews and analyzes safety trend data and provide training recommendations to achieve zero at-risk behaviors.
  • Develop training materials for the field to be included in safety campaigns and blitzes.
  • Collaborate with Safety Leadership in developing and implementing training programs to aide in staff education.
  • Assist in the development of measurement criteria / controls and incentives to improve the company's safety performance.
  • Define, develop, implement, and control our current library of safety resources.
  • Lead in the development of new safety communication strategies.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including IT, Human Resources, Marketing, Risk Management, and Operations to support high-profile strategic initiatives, including LMS and RMIS implementation.

Compliance Programs & Policy Management

  • Frequent review of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DOT, FTA, FMCSA, CHP, OSHA, and other regulatory officials.
  • Continuously research and maintain a current understanding of governing regulations.
  • Develop training documentation to serve as guides for knowledge management and compliance assurance with regulatory requirements (DOT Recordable, Hours of Service, OSHA, etc.).
  • Maintain Federal DOT numbers and Motor Carrier authority, filing the required biennial updates (MCS-150) and analysis for UCR registration fees.
  • Assists in the development and revisions of policies and procedures to define appropriate practices.
  • Track and maintain employee / location safety and compliance training and certification records.
  • Validate OSHA reportable data and reporting establishment details and assist in ensuring compliance and audit clearance.

Talent Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess a proven track record of quality field work and technical knowledge. Qualification focus areas will also include:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) + years in Management Consulting, Safety, Insurance, Training or related experience preferred.
  • Understanding of the FMCSA and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and OneDrive.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Experience in implementation of a system is a plus.
  • Enthusiasm about Safety!
