Utility Worker in Barrie at MV Transportation

Job Description

A subsidiary of MV Transit, MVT Canadian Bus Inc., proudly operates the conventional and specialized transit service for the City of Barrie from a brand new $22M state-of-the-art facility as part of a 20-year operating contract. Our Barrie Transit team is seeking full-time Utility Workers to provide safe, reliable public transportation and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all vehicles are completely fueled and fluids topped, ready for service
  • Ensures interiors and exteriors are cleaned according to contract
  • Ensures all fleet damage documented and communicated to appropriate personnel in the case of unreported damage
  • Maintains a safe work area to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or others
  • Assists the maintenance and operations departments, as needed

Talent Requirements:

  • Over the age of 19 and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • A valid "C" or "B" Ontario Driver's License with "Z" (airbrake) endorsement; OR
  • A valid "G" Ontario Driver's License with the ability to upgrade to a "C" or "B" Ontario Driver's License with "Z" (airbrake) endorsement within the probationary period (training will be provided, candidates responsible for cost associated with license upgrades)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience cleaning, fueling and topping up fluids
  • Experience working with cleaning products, chemicals and related equipment
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems
  • Flexible to various shifts including days, weekends, holidays and evenings
  • Able to pass a Criminal Background Check

Wages: $17.44 per hour (+ 0.50 shift premium for evening shifts)

Hours: 6:00 pm - 2:30 am, 2 consecutive days off per week, typically mid-week
