Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Workers Compensation Subrogation Adjuster to coordinate and administer the internal functions related to recovering subrogation dollars from third parties who are responsible for damages to our fleet or injured parties.

Identifying Workers Compensation Claims with Subrogation Potential

  • Reviewing daily workers compensation claims for adverse party liability
  • Setting up subrogation flag in RMIS (Dmitri)

Investigating Subrogation

  • Gathering investigation documentation from divisions and attaching to the file
  • Identify third party and insurance company through research and dialog with those parties
  • Place all parties on notice of subrogation efforts
  • Evaluate lien amount through review of MV records
  • Determine value of subrogation of all damages in timely matter
  • Create and submit demand letter to third party and or third party claims administrator or attorney
  • Update subrogation file in RMIS (Dmitri) with notes, expected subrogation, any additional documentation

Negotiate and Settle Subrogated files

  • Negotiate settlement of subrogation with all involved parties
  • Complete settlement procedures, including documentation of settlement, confirmation of agreement in RMIS (Dmitri)
  • Track checks received for subrogation, track in RMIS and post appropriately through Accounts Payable and Accounting
  • Denote subrogation claim as resolved

Monthly and Annual Report of Progress

  • Run reports monthly to provide update on the number of subrogation claims that have come in, those that have been resolved, and the amount of subrogation dollars collected
  • Keep track of monthly results to compare each month and each year
  • Other duties as assigned

Talent Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Six (6) months experience with subrogation claims or one (1) year experience in claims, customer service or other related field that requires research, negotiations and timely resolution of issues
  • Current liability adjusters license
