Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking seasonal Behind the Wheel Trainers who will provide behind the wheel instruction and direction to operators and operator candidates. This role will be a three (3) month duration and will finish at the end of August.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide behind the wheel course instruction to new operator candidates according to the project training schedule. Key areas of instruction include defensive driving, passenger relations, loading/unloading and securement, map reading and navigation, manifest completion, pre-and post-trip inspection, handling emergency situations, and dispatch communications.
  • Ensure that all operators are fully trained prior to being released into revenue service.
  • Provide assistance to operators with concerns/questions regarding behind the wheel operations.
  • Conduct on-board evaluations and in-service training to operators according to schedule and/or need.
  • Provide feedback to Safety Manager, Operations Manager and other appropriate staff regarding training needs.
  • Ensure a fully-equipped complement of vehicle operators to provide service according to the contract guidelines.
  • Document all training activities and ensure accurate completion of all training related employee records.
  • Provide feedback and follow up for operator performance reviews and identify individual training needs where necessary.
  • Promote team environment and safety focus amongst all employees.

Talent Requirements:

  • One (1) to three (3) years as a professional Driver.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent service and safety record in operations.
  • Must be licensed to operate a vehicle, ideally with CDL B, P with airbrakes.
  • Knowledge of service area and training program requirements.
  • Ability to provide instruction to peer operators in a manner that encourages communication and feedback.
