Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Facilities Technician to maintain the day to day maintenance and repair work of the maintenance facility, grounds, bus shelters, etc.

Facilities Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform building repairs on roofs, floors, ceilings, and walls.
  • Install vinyl composite and ceramic tile to floors or walls.
  • Reconfigure modular offices and furniture, repair work on furniture.
  • Install signage to identify buildings.
  • Replace: motors, compressors, belts, pumps, filter systems, cabinets, and shelves.
  • Replace glass.
  • Replace plumbing systems and all components.
  • Remove sewer blockages to building structures.
  • Repair: water heaters, gas and electric pipes and lines around the buildings.
  • Paint structures and equipment as needed.
  • Constructs bus stops and installs, removes, and/or relocates bus stop amenities (I.E. bus stop benches, bus stop signs, advertisement panels, trash collection equipment, etc.).
  • Replace broken glass and/or damaged mesh panels.
  • Effects repairs to damaged or worn bus stop components as directed.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment working with vendors.
  • Work with bids and material lists.
  • Ordering stock and materials as needed.
  • Obtain quotes and work on building modifications.
  • Oversee contractors to determine that work is done correctly.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) checks, train co-workers for PM checks.
  • Accurately complete written record of work performed.
  • Maintain a clean work area as directed.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as directed.

Talent Requirements:

  • Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
  • Knowledge of all tools necessary for plumbing, HVAC/heating, electrical and carpentry repairs.
  • Experience with HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and building maintenance.
  • Ability to adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair problems.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to consistently operate within a team framework.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor and co-workers.
  • A valid clear Driver's license is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must provide a basic set of tools.
  • Trade school, mechanical course, or equivalent highly desired.
