Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking an Individual Transit Instructor to complete customized training for individuals as an introduction to using the bus system. He/she works closely with the rider's support system and appropriate local social service agency(ies) to ensure the participant's success.

This position develops individualized training plans for each rider and follows a county-approved training model. The Individual Transit Instructor completes and submits daily documentation and final reports on a timely basis for each participant.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct customized in-field training for individual riders
  • Group instruction for participants who are good candidates for individual training
  • Retraining for riders due to changes in routes, travel patterns or pathway obstructions
  • Successful implementation of individual training

Talent Requirements:

  • At least one (1) year in a group training role or working with people with disabilities, preferably in the field of mobility; travel training experience preferred
  • Experience in a paratransit training role, with a focus on mobility securement and passenger relations
  • Experience in evaluating mobility needs
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with local disability groups and their representatives
  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
