Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a Quality Assurance Monitor - Farebox, who under general supervision, will diagnose and repair electronic fareboxes, their components and supporting equipment at the transit facility, and on buses in revenue service. He/she will also track and trend incidents to identify repeat issues, explore new ideas and innovative ways to improve in-service challenges, and conduct themselves in a professional manner with all clients, customers and employees at all times.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Diagnoses and repairs all electronic registering fareboxes, including components (coin modules, bill transports, printing mechanisms, and TRiM units)
  • Replace bad coin module, bill module, TRiM unit, electronic boards, and/or power supply with good order components
  • Submits and monitors repair requests to client technical department for follow up on unresolved issues
  • Respond to co-workers request for repair of farebox malfunctions
  • Perform farebox repair to return farebox back into service adhering to deadlines
  • Maintain inventory in farebox repair road kits for road supervisors/self as needed
  • Maintain records of all farebox road calls
  • Maintain sufficient and frequent communication with client on farebox maintenance
  • Maintain records of equipment malfunctions as well as tracking and trending data
  • Makes service improvement recommendations to management
  • Assist operators in resolving challenges while on duty
  • Work with dispatchers to resolve farebox challenges/repairs
  • Adjust schedule for special service/events as assigned
  • Is responsible for the care and working condition of assigned computer
  • Prepare other written documentation/reports as needed
  • Monitor and complete regular reports
  • Provide excellent customer service to client, passengers and operators at all times

Talent Requirements:

  • High School diploma
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience working in the field of technical equipment/electrical components
  • Ability to learn all facets of farebox repair and maintenance
  • Ability to travel independently and respond to calls as necessary
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and diagnose fareboxes using outlined procedures
  • Requires working knowledge of the methods, materials, lubricants, tools and equipment used in servicing and maintaining transit revenue collection equipment
  • Ability to understand client policies and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to gain familiarization with and operate all company provided vehicles
  • Must obtain a minimum of a Class B "CDL" w/passenger endorsement within six (6) months of hire
  • Ability to pass and maintain a DOT Medical Certification
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
